Renee graduated from Otago University in 2004 and begun her working career at Whakatane Hospital as a rotational physiotherapist. She worked in ICU, orthopaedics, general medical, paediatric and maternity wards and treated clients in the musculoskeletal outpatient clinic. Renee carried on to work in the community physiotherapy team and covered a large geographical area from Whakatane to East Cape. It was during this time she studied lymphoedema management.
Renee moved to Hamilton in 2008 and began working at Anglesea Clinic Physiotherapy. She currently works part time treating patients recovering from breast surgery and providing PINC & Steel Cancer Rehabilitation to clients that have experienced any form of cancer as an individual or part of a group in the Next Steps exercise classes. Renee also provides lymphoedema therapy in a private practice setting, and is a national ambassador for Mobiderm in NZ.
Cancer Rehabilitation and Lymphoedema - 1hr
Renee will give a background on the clients she sees and her treatment with them. She will discuss contraindications, when to refer clients on to lymphoedma specialists like herself and how best to work with clients who are in the cancer rehabilitation stage.
Renee will also give an overview of PINC and Steel who have developed Cancer Rehabilitation Programs to provide a range of services designed to look after men, women and young people recovering from any type of cancer surgery or cancer treatments.
