I first joined Massage Aotearoa New Zealand in 2006. Why? Because I wanted to belong to an association that held professionalism, integrity and respect as the key aspects of their organisation. I am glad that I did. As a health professional we should never stop learning, and one of the things that I love about MANZ is that they put such an emphasis behind professional development and continuing education.

The main reason for signing up to MANZ was to give the massage profession the support it needed to be recognised and acknowledged by other health stakeholders such as The public health system, ACC etc. Other reasons I joined were to get my name 'out there' through the MANZ website, access to grants, and access to other massage therapists and massage education through meetings and conferences. Where it has helped is the acceptance of MANZ members by the Southern Cross HealthCare, discounted insurance, and as stepping stone for other professional associations, such as the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA).
