B4 Restore the Core – Intermediate / Advanced Session

Sunday’s Workshop follows on from techniques learned and practised during the Saturday Session.

Join Doug in a guide to intermediate / Advanced core engagement, toning & strengthening techniques, bracing & awareness to achieve realistic postural balance & alignment, and REDUCE CHRONIC PAIN

Learn how to facilitate client responsibility and accountability. The information shared in this Workshop is backed by Research from various bio-mechanical experts, published Allied Health Professionals and Historical knowledge.

Have you ever wondered why some of your treatment plans stagnate and some your client’s plateau in their recovery and rehabilitation?

WHY IS THIS?

If you’ve been in the industry long enough, you’ll understand massage won’t solve everything – it’s not the complete answer to many issues, particularly chronic pain.

Enjoy, learn, and take part in a Fun, Active, Informative Workshop introducing more advanced and challenging concepts to accompany your amazing hands-on skills.

The Sunday Session Workshop discusses and practises, Intermediate to Advanced ideas and exercises to encourage postural integration through key structures that should be accessible and easy to initiate and strengthen in an everyday environment. Doug will introduce you to key anatomical structures and, identify why, these structures may be inhibited, weak or habitually forgotten about, through a range of dynamic exercises and movement patterns that challenge core strength and stability. Through this process you will be able to identify key areas where you may be lacking in core strength and co-ordination, and transfer this knowledge to empower your clients’, to do the same.

No expensive, bulky equipment is required, your client can do everything at home, if necessary, or incorporate into their workout at the gym. Plus, the scope to increase techniques learnt, or adapt to higher levels of strength & fitness, is limitless. Experience the change in yours and your clients’ strength gains, reduction in pain, and increased postural awareness, self-confidence and empowerment.

Doug has been the proud owner of Lifestyles Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy for the last 25 years. His clinical career has seen him complete over 40,000 hours of professional, clinical table time in his practice, and off-site - working with a number of High-Performance Athletes and Teams, both National and International.

Doug’s Business Director and interpersonal skills, stem from a career of middle management positions in various industries from Hospitality to Design and Operations management in the Pre-press Industry, that spans >3 decades, in the UK & NZ.

Doug’s teaching career began in 1999 @ NZCM (Auckland Camus), where he realised his combined passion of Massage Therapy and as an Educator – starting as a Surface Anatomy teacher, through to Senior Lecturer on the BHS NMT & Massage Degree within the Clinical Therapeutics Program.

Following the closure of NZCM, Doug lead the NMT program of the Diploma in Remedial Massage at Wintec (Rotokauri Campus) for the initial 2 years. As recognition, Doug was the recipient of the Bill Wareham Award at last years’ AGM – one of his most humbling experiences and a true honour.

Doug’s teaching and clinical style sit firmly in the ideals and application of Neuromuscular Therapy. However, his life and clinical experience, research and acknowledgement of parallel Allied health philosophies have led him to include many of their’ techniques and exploration, around the clinic table and in his Workshops today. A significant aspect of his treatment plans and clinical reasoning have been drawn from his 40+ years of experience in the gym and competitive sports. Combining the multi-faceted approach of NMT, with Exercise Rehabilitation - he facilitates a complete and achievable program for each of his clients’ respectively, to realise their goals’, and enjoys nothing more than observing his clients’ and students’ growth in their personal journeys.
